Rachel understands that Wills and Estates is a deeply personal and often complex area of law. She works closely with clients to craft tailored estate plans that consider individual asset structures and long-term goals, including the incorporation of testamentary trusts. She collaborates with Accountants and Financial Planners where appropriate. Rachel will also consider your “living wills” the documents to cover the situation that you are no longer able to make decisions for yourself (Powers of Attorney and Advance Care Directives).
Rachel represents executors once a client dies. She will prepare applications for Probate, Affidavits, copy Will applications, complex originating applications involving informal testamentary documents. She will assist executors in bringing the assets in to the estate, and then distributing the estate pursuant to the terms of the Will.
Rachel will negotiate with beneficiaries (if there are disputes) and formalise any agreement by way of Deed.
If a Will is contested, or there are other disputes regarding administration, Rachel will assist in any court proceedings including court appearances and mediations.
Rachel is passionate about explaining the process to clients and providing advice in a way that can be easily understood. Rachel will test your ideas to see how they would work in practice and will guide you to ensure that your assets are protected.
At the heart of Rachel’s practice is her dedication to client relationships. Known for her clarity, warmth, and responsiveness, she takes pride in offering practical advice in a way that is both accessible and reassuring. For Rachel, the highest compliment is when clients return and then refer their friends and loved ones.
