When dealing with a transaction as important as the transfer of real estate, it is crucial that the identity of the buyer and seller are confirmed. We need to know that the parties to the transaction are who they say they are – which is where the land title verification of identity comes in.

What is an identity verification form?
If you have engaged us or any conveyancer, the land title verification of identity form is usually one of the first of many steps that are carried out in the process of buying a property or selling a property. It is only required every two years, so if you have worked with us within a two year period, we are able to use the previous VOI.
It is a government requirement that parties in a conveyancing transaction comply with the protocols of the “Verification of Identity” process to ensure that the correct person is dealing with the land in question. Learn more about what the process is and how to complete it.
Verification of identity SA
In South Australia, the Registrar-General is responsible for providing the framework for verification of identity. Whomever is verifying the identity must be satisfied that the documents provided for identification are current and authentic.
What documents can be used to verify identity?
This is a simple process where you need to supply the following documents to establish your identity. You will need:
- An Australian or a foreign passport (current or within 2 years of expiry)
- Current driver’s licence or Proof of Age Card
- Marriage/ change of name certificate (if applicable)
If a passport is not available, then we require:
- Current driver’s licence or Proof of Age Card
- Full birth certificate (an extract is sufficient)
- A Medicare, Centrelink or Department of Veteran Affairs Card
- Marriage/ change of name certificate (if applicable).
