I joined Eckermann Lawyers in 2022 as an Associate Director leading the Wills and Estates Division. I am responsible for overseeing and managing the Division to ensure consistency and precision from our practitioners for our valued clients.
Admitted to practice in 2008, I have been fortunate to practice in a number of areas of personal law. This varied experience enabled me to gain understanding of complex legal matters, family issues, litigation, and negotiation. It laid the foundation to further my skills and in 2014 focus my practice on:
- Estate Planning;
- Wills;
- Powers of Attorney;
- Advance Care Directives;
- Estate Administration;
- Contested Estates; and
- General Litigation.
In 2017 I commenced and ran a successful suburban office specialising in these areas.
In 2018 I was awarded a scholarship with Women and Leadership Australia and completed The Advanced Leadership Program. This was invaluable, helped me to find my purpose and to lead with kindness and respect.
In 2021 I completed the Law Society of South Australia Practice Management Course.
Wills and Estates is a complex and intricate area of law. In estate planning (will making) there is no “one size fits all.” An estate plan involves considering the assets and structures in place in life and to ensure that appropriate plans are made now so that wealth is transferred to your loved ones. I am motivated to educate our clients on the options available to them. This may include testamentary trusts that offer asset protection and taxation benefits. Strategies can also be discussed with your accountant and financial planner. A proper estate plan will make it much easier for family when you are no longer here. I help your family at that stage and guide them through the administration of the deceased estate including applying for Probate, redeeming the assets and distributing the estate.
The most important part of my practice are my clients. I help and guide them in a way that they can understand. I focus on efficiency, good communication, clear explanations, and to be approachable. The greatest compliment is when my clients’ family and friends in turn come to see me.
